Firmware recommendation for FAP-221C

Hello, currently I' m running 2 FAP-221C (Firmware 5.0 build 0449) together with a FG40C-HA-Cluster (A-P) on FortiOS 5.0.7 (build 4457, branch point 271). I' m planing to upgrade my Fortigates to FortiOS 5.0.8 (build 4601, branch point 291), but I' m uncertain if I should upgrade my FortiAP' s too. Unfortunately for the FortiGates there is no FortiOS 5.0.9 available (Feature support for FAP-221C) and for my FortiAP' s there is just a Firmware 5.2.0 available, but not other 5.0.x So my questions are: 1. Will my devices continue to function, if I' m using my current FortiAP-Firmware 5.0 build 0449 and only upgrade my FortiGate-Cluster? 2. Will my devices continue to function if I' m upgrading my FortiAP' s to Firmware 5.2.0 but my FortiGate-Cluster only to FortiOS 5.0.8 (build 4601, branch point 291)? Sincerely Harald

If you want to get the full advantage of 11ac technology , you have to upgrade 221C' s to 5.2. According to the data sheet you need 5.2 in fortigate as well

the 221C and 320C units only support 5.2 firmware (there is no 5.0.x for them) On the controller side you need 5.2 or the 5.0.x " feature builds" to support the 221C/320C units

Hello, I dont want to upgrade my FortiGate-Cluster to FOS 5.2.0 right now! This is a production device in a remote location, so if it breaks I dont have the possibility to recover it easily! Currently I dont need 11ac features (maybe later), so the FAP' s can stay at there current Firmware if they still work with FortiOS 5.0.x Unfortunately in the release notes of FortiOS 5.0.8/5.0.9 FAP-221C devices are not mentioned. Sincerely Harald

The 5.0.9 feature build (with ac support) is now on the support site.
