Hello all,
I'm trying to factory reset a FortiAP 222E because I cannot reach it (no telnet, no controller), but I am not able to find instructions on how to do that.
The 222E is an outdoor model, so there is no button/pinhole/whatever to push on the AP itself.
I found a reference to a button on the power injector (I lost the url, but will update if I find it again), but the Fortinet supplied injector GPI-115 (original part, Fortinet branded) does not have any pinhole/button.
I found this kb:
https://kb.fortinet.com/kb/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=FD36190
the KB states that I have to connect to the AP to reset it: I want to reset the AP because I cannot connect to it so the KB is useless to me.
there is this thread on this forum:
https://forum.fortinet.com/tm.aspx?m=192080
no solution has been provided here.
I made an attempt with default settings/ip but with no success.
Does anyone knows what's the procedure to factory reset a FortiAP 222E?

Did you ever get a resolution to this?
We have the same problem. Same model AP was bought 2nd hand and we need to reset and there does not appear to be any way.
You will need to force the AP to connect to your Fortigate controller. This can be done for instance with DHCP option 43. A simple broadcast discovery should also work if FortiAP and Fortigate are on the same broadcast domain.
Your WTP profile should be configured to override the FortiAP credentials with defaults.
I did not mention but the 222E does not pick up a dhcp lease; I am guessing it may have been set statically previously. Is there anything we can do to reset these?
Hi
So I only know about the POE adapter that you can reset this AP.
Any idea what the part number is for the Fortinet POE adapater?
I was able to find the IP scheme of the used 222Es, that being said they still do not show in the fortigate AP list, guessing that controller is static set on the AP too as well as the IP and non default admin password. It looks like we are going to have to order at least one special POE adapter just to be able to do a factory reset, truly unbelievable. It would have been wonderful if there was a reset button on the actual AP to reset it to factory but no; extremely frustrated by this whole mess.

The reset button being moved from the AP to the adapter is a feature. The PoE injector EPA5006GPR is therefore normally bundled with the AP.
