Hi All,
We upgraded our FortiAnalyzer & FortiManager yesterday, from 7.4.1 to 7.4.2
Both running in VMware, and deployed from official FortiNet images.
On both systems, they did the Image download from FortiNet, then 'Backup configuaration', and then stalled with the message 'The system is backing up....'
Waited for min 1/2 an hour, no progress.
Aborted the upgrade, de-selected 'Backup configuration' and ran it again - this time flying through the process and upgrading to 7.4.2 in under 5 min.
If you run it without 'Backup configuration', make sure you do have a backup first, and a snapshot of your server!
Hope it help others.

Hi Anthony,
Well, I managed to upgrade both systems, with the workaround mentioned, so this is more a heads-up to others seing the same, or to your support if you get reports about it.
Hello Jakob,
When the backup hangs, there could be a zombie task that is preventing the backup to continue.
In such cases we usually repair the tasks from cli:
#diagnose dvm task repair
(after running this command system will reboot automatically)
Thanks,
Thanks @Jakob-AHHG for providing the workaround to this issue. Even our FMG was stuck at "The system is backing up" for around 1 hour. When we closed the window and retried after de-selecting "Backup Configuration", the upgrade went through smoothly in under 5 mins.
@asrour is this related to bug id 999710?
yes
