HI, today we migrated FortiGate 200D to 201F. In 201F , whenever we tried to restore the configuration , it's showing "Failed to restore system configuration".
But the restoration was successful regardless of showing the alert and the FortiGate was also running well.
We tried factory reset and then test backup/restore with a default/blank config but the alert still showing as soon as we tried to restored the configuration.
Other than showing the alert , there is no issue on the restoration process.
We've follow the link below but the alert still showing whenever we tried to restore. Our FortiGate has enough capacity as it's a new box so the below resolution didn't work for us.
Anyone experienced this issue before? Can you please help to suggest us what should we check?
Thank you all for the suggestions. We are now doing tech refresh to all of our FortiGate with newer models that's why we faced so many unexpected issue lately.
FortiGate #RestoreCOnfig
Hello,
In case you are trying to restore FortiGate 200D to FortiGate 201F, it will fail, since they are different hardware platforms. You may consider to use FortiConverter to migrate configuration between from FortiGate 200D to FortiGate 201F.
We are using the exported config from converter. We even tried export blank config from 201F itself and restored the 201F blank config to the unit , still showing the alert even for the same model /same version.
Other than showing the alert , there is no issue on the process.
Hello,
I would like to ask to double check whether unit is running the same version of FortiOS as version of backup.
Hello,thank you for your suggestion.
Yes, same version, same model, same FortiGate box
backup config file from the same Firewall and then restore into same firewall , the alert still appear .
Also upgraded the firmware and test again on the same box , backup config from this firewall and then tried to restored to this firewall again. Testing on the same model, same version but the alert still appear when tried to restore.
Other than showing the alerts , there is no issue. The restoration also success , production also no impact. It's was like showing the false alert.
Any diagnose command to check why it's triggering the alerts?
Hello,
Can you please specify which firmware are you running?
probably the config error log on cli could give you some clue.
exec config error log read is the command afair...
