FG50A formatting boot device

Hi @all i have a big problem - my fg50a has a boot failure. after i connected via putty i can see the problem: " you must format the boot device" . and now? i need the boot image for my fg50a device. can someone help with these file? thx&regards gt

The just download the firmware image from the repository! Format the boot device, install the new firmware via tftp and recover the system from your backup-config! cheers.roman

sorry - i found no image for the 50a. have you a link? ...maby my link was wrong? thx 4 help!

There is no ' link' until you log into the support site. If you do not currently have support, then you have to get it through Fortinet somehow...

A link is no good, as you have to login to fortinet support to get the firmware. Login to your support, Click firmware images, click fortigate, then select the firmware version you want.

ok. the firmware is not the problem. and i have an account. to format the hdd - i have read so - is it neccesary to have an image. in the repository i found no image for the 50a. ...and sorry - my english is not so good. where can i get the 50a image to format the hd? thx4help!

start looking back at older firmware versions, working backwards. as FGT50A is not supported anymore i believe.

After a power off boot up, watch the screen (on the serial connection). You can interrupt the boot sequence for a maintenance menu. There are options here for reset to default, format the drive, TFTP firmware, and maybe some other options. Been a while since I have been there myself.
