FG3600 Spontaneous Restart

My 3600 restarted at approx 11:36 today. There are no indications of a fault in any of the logs. Indeed there is no indication in any of the logs that a restart occurred. I have no idea if this has happened before, I will keep an eye on the Up Time on the Status Screen. AntiVirus defs: 4.515 FortiOS 2.50 Build 299 My 2 FG1000' s with the same FortiOS but different AV defs 4.514 have been up for 38 and 40 days. Is there anything that keeps track of restarts? Thanks Greg

Check that the units fans are working okay, in case the unit is overheating. Dont know of any ' lower level' logs as such.

UK, thanks for that. I just did a physical check, all appears ok. I' m hoping the restart occurred because the FG was checking for updates and got confused. It checked 3 times right around the restart time. I have turned off the scheduled updates and have only push updates on for now. I had the schedule set for 4 hours and there were lots of entries that I misinterpreted in the event log.

Greg, Fortinet do not recommend enabling only push update as Fortinet servers will send only one UDP packet when its time to update - if this packet will not reach your FG - it will not perform update until next AV signature release. Alex.

Alex, thanks. After I test the push updates on all 3 FG' s I will put the update scheduling back on. Greg
