FCT 5.2 Use on FGT 5.0 Patch 7

We will be rolling out Forticlient across our business, and I have a question on which Forticlient version to use. Is it possible to use ver 5.2 while we are on FGT 5.0p7? If so, is there any reason why I would not want to do this? I' m just thinking that I want to get 5.2 installed as the initially install to avoid any potentially upgrade headaches later.

I' m using FC 5.2 witch FGT 5.0.7/5.0.9 without major problems. I have minor issues, but they are most likely are related to my windows running too long (several years) without reinstall. 1) sometimes higher CPU load - killing fmon.exe (AV) process helps and I had the same issue with FC 5.0.x. 2) sometimes VPN connection issues - killing fortitray.exe hepls. As far as I remember, it was a little bit better with FC 5.0.x. Anyway I like very much that custom install is back in 5.2, so it' s possible to install VPN only.

Thank you, good to know. How has administration through the FortiGate been? Any anomalies that you have ran into?

You may miss the new on-net/off-net feature in 5.2 FOS. Other than that, it should be fully compatible.
