Ensure Security Fabric question

Dear All, 

         May i ask if i can switch from  Security Fabric role standalone to Security Fabric root directly ? any different between these 2 role ? if i directly change from standalone to Security Fabric root , any impact ? thanks

First requirement is FortiGate should be in NAT mode. For other prerequisites you can refer below article:
