Dynamic DNS and SSL VPN

hi, I was looking at purchsing a fortigate 100 and just was interested to know if the fortigate implementation will support SSL VPN with dynamic DNS. Our current internet provider does not provide a static IP address option for assigning public ip address. With this in mind is it possible to configure the fortigate appliance to use DHCP for ip address lease assignment and then use dynamic DNS to publish the location of the VPN gateway to clients trying to connect?

Hi There, Yes, Yes and Yes. IPconfiguration via DHCP is supported DynDns is supported, and SSL VPN will work over DynDNS. Caveats are..... SSLVPN works in two modes, Tunnnel mode via an aplett or web mode for a kiosk type environment. Tunnel mode does not yet work with Vista. But next release should do (roughly August is planned release date) DynDns has never caused me a problem, however there have been some reports on this forum regarding DynDns not always updating. (I would advise using an internal PC or server to update DynDns - but it is included on the FG)

Thanks for that , I also forget to also ask and if you have time. In terms of functionality, one of the local resellers mentioned that the fortigate/fortiwifi products all share the same code base and all have the same software functionality. If we were also looking at getting a fortiwifi 60A for two of our remote offices. (The wireless access is a desired feature). Would the fortiwifi appliance have the same SSL VPN functionality as the fortigate 100 ?

Yes, All FG boxes have the same code base and functionality. The only difference is teh amount of CPU and throughput in teh boxes. All fortigates also include IPSEC functionality, so you can connect the remote offices together via a VPN too
