Dual wan with application control

Hello,

I have two wans and I need to split the traffic of one lan based on the fortigate's application control
Example:

- High bandwidth usage, social media application use WAN1
- Web client, VOIP, general application use WAN2

Now we have the static route 0.0.0.0 on WAN1 and with the policy routes I can move traffic to WAN2 only for some IPs or all to LAN1 and internet service.

How could I do?
Thanks

Proably the best approach is to configure SDWAN, which has the capability to route traffic from a specific application (or more) to one of the members. Here is an example:

https://docs.fortinet.com/document/fortigate/6.2.7/cookbook/380145/configuring-sd-wan-rules
You will need to create rules for all the required apps.
Last but not least, the default route should point to the SDWAN construct, not individually to each ISP link.

I had guessed but this distorts the whole configuration of my equipment. I thought there was a less invasive solution.

Thanks

If you don't want to use SDWAN you can create "static and policy route" to move traffic between the Wan connections and "link-monitor" (from CLI) to configure link failed over.

I already use those and they don't allow me to sort traffic via application category

App Categories for SDWAN Rules can be configured in FortiOS 6.0 and 6.2:

But it looks like this feature was removed starting with FortiOS 6.4.

Hello

please check this article on SD-WAN application control traffic initially hits the less specific rule instead of the rule with application control

Let us know if you have any queries

Thanks
