Disk SYSTEM(boot) can it partition to use as log ?

Current running on VM and no hardware disk present but I wish to use current DIsk System as log

 

diagnose hardware deviceinfo disk

Disk SYSTEM(boot) 40.0GiB type: IDE [Virtio Disk] dev: /dev/vda
partition 231.0MiB, 93.0MiB free mounted: Y label: dev: /dev/vda1(boot) start: 2048
partition 1.7GiB, 1.4GiB free mounted: Y label: dev: /dev/vda2(boot) start: 526336

can I partition to use as log and how ?

If you want to use a larger log disk, the only officially supported method in the latest firmware versions is to redeploy the VM with a larger disk.

You don't have control on how Fortigate partitions the disk, so the answer is no, you cannot.

 

EDIT: There is no documented way to change the partition, Fortinet, internally do have way of doing it, but they do not tend to disclose how.
