I have deleted Avira anti virus programme and tried to install Fortinet, but the install still says detecting parts of Avire. Have used Ccleaner to remove any bits it could find and also deleted any Avira directories I could find + manually gone through the registry deleting any keys I could find. Still won't load real time protection. Rebooted several times during the process - still no joy. Now getting extremely frustrated.

Hi Jim. Welcome to the forums.
Just to confirm are you trying to install the Forticlient? Have you followed Avira's manual instructions for removing Avira, located here?
NSE4/FMG-VM64/FortiAnalyzer-VM/6.0 (FWF30E/FW92D/FGT200D/FGT101E/FGT81E)/ FAP220B/221C
Did all that. I had already deleted all Avira files that I could find - however as its not my laptop, I had not set hidden files and folders to be visible. Found some more with that. Also using their registry cleaner as opposed to Ccleaner, found three more keys that I had missed after doing a manual search. Having done all that it still tells me that AVira desktop is installed. What I did do was to download the latest version of Forticlient free and it is installing.
