Hi,
As someone who proposes and implements FortiGate solutions for clients,
I have received detailed inquiries from them regarding the “File System Check Recommended” message.
I understand that this message appears when a proper shutdown cannot be performed. However,
I would appreciate any advice on the following points that I was unable to investigate further.
If the message is canceled once, will it no longer appear again?
Is it possible to reproduce the same message even after canceling it?
Is there an alternative method to check for errors in the file system?
Thanks, Kenji

Hello Kenji-san,
unfortunately the file system check can only be done when the actual OS is offline and not using it. The check is done right after reboot, before the OS is loaded.
As such, you can do the file system check any time with the need of a reboot. The check is done after it.
I recommend enabling the option to automatically do that on every reboot (since reboots are typically planned anyway).
Best regards,
Markus
Hi Kenji,
The message will re-appear and also will be displayed in the notifications.
Most is explained here:
https://community.fortinet.com/t5/FortiGate/Technical-Tip-File-System-check-recommended-message/ta-p...
You should enable the automatic file system check and at the next reboot, intended or not, the check is done, if required.
Best regards,
Markus

Thank you for your quick and kindly advices.
Thank you for introducing the knowledge site; it was very helpful.
If you know of any additional commands that would allow us to conduct the same checks, it would be greatly appreciated.
This is because our client is concerned about the equipment being offline for an extended period during checks.
Thanks,Kenji
