Hi. About Fortinet FortiGate or any other products,
1. After inputting License key (Activation), is there any way to remove that license?
2. Is deregistration and deactivation of License the same thing?
3. What are the steps to follow if I want to deregister or deactivate a license in FortiGate? After deregistration or deactivation, will the configuration of the FortiGate erase?

You can't deactivate the license for Fortinet products. You can just remove the license from the device.
If you want this, you need to create a case for Customer Services.

For example, you can sell your old Fortinet product. In this scenario, you can deregister your product from your account.
Or you use Fortinet products as VM. You can want to transfer your license to another VM environment. Because of that, you can deregister your VM license and you can register again.
If you want do anything about licensing or registering things. You need to create a customer support ticket.

Thanks for your response. I understand your point. Aside from this, what is deregistration? For which case a FortiGate should be deregistered? Are there any steps or requirements?

you can try running the following:
execute remove vm-license
which will remove the license and then reboot the device.
An administrator can deregister a FortiGate if the device has been registered for three or more years, using the GUI or CLI, without having to contact FortiCare administration. After the device is deregistered, all associated contracts are also deregistered, and all of the administrator's information is wiped.
Go to System > FortiGuard and in the FortiCare Support row select Actions > Deregister FortiGate.
The FortiCare Deregistration pane opens.
Enter your password then click Next.
Confirm the FortiGate deregistration then click Submit.
If the FortiGate has been registered for less then three years, the deregistration will fail.
# diagnose forticare direct-registration product-deregister <accountID> <password>
If the FortiGate has been registered for less then three years, the deregistration will fail:
forticare_product_deregister:1335: Failed to get response (rc = 0, http_code = 403) Unit deregistration unsuccessful.
