DHCP problems

I am having a problem with the DHCP server on a 60C running 5.2 firmware. Basically, when I try to reserve an IP for certain devices, as soon as the then-existing IP reservation expires, the device gets the DNS server address assigned as its gateway address, and the gateway address as its DNS. So the device fails to access the internet. Has anyone else seen this problem? Any solution?

I would suggest you look at the HDCP server settings from the cli; Here' s your options; config system dhcp server edit 1 set dns-service local Use this FGT as DNS server. default Use system DNS settings. specify Specify DNS servers.

This issue was also reported in this post. It appears to be related to the known issue mentioned in the release notes:

The FortiGate fails to reserve an IP address for a client once added through the DHCP monitor. (235425)

Ah thank you. I had searched the forums but missed this post. Guess I' ll deal with the workarounds until this is corrected.

As a workaround you might configure the FGT as follows: - create a forwarding DNS instance on the ' internal' interface, with your main DNS as the forwarding target - specify the FGT as DNS and gateway This way it doesn' t matter if the FGT mixes the two up.
