Good morning,
I want to create a secondary Data Center out of my office as a backup in case that something bad happens to the main office to continue working and I have some doubts.
First of all I configured the Fortigate 100F that I bought for the secondary Data Center with the same configuratión that the main Fortigate 100F, I used the firewall backup archive to configurate the new one.
I need to know if the firewall for the secondary Data Center is going to steal the licenses to de main firewall or he needs new licenses for him becouse I want to prove if the new Data Center works OK but I dont want to loose the licenses of the main firewall.
Thanks a lot.

You need to purchase new licenses for your DC Firewall - licenses are attached to the serial number of the device.
And if the licenced firewall burns for example, it is posible to change the licence to the new firewall?
Unless you intentionally burn it, the burnt device can be RMAed to get a replacement, which would have the same licenses on it. Outside RMA, only license transferable to other device I know is FortiToken license. You can open a CS ticket to get the token licenses transferred when you want.
Toshi
On RMA licenses will be automatically transfered if you tick the box during the RMA applyment process.
Every other license can always be transferred to annother FGT (at least of the same model) by Customer Support. We had to do that a couple of time to keep licenses when replacing the hardware.

Hi @3dBConsult
Applying the same license may cause conflicts.
If you install the backup Fortigate, you need to apply new license per device.
Thanks,

I think this can be done via RMA transfer in Asset management ( in your FortiCloud account ).
LIcenses can be transfered automatically if you RMA a device or it can also be done by a request to customer support if there is not a rma.
