Once an AP is deployed as a branch/leaf AP is there anyway to connect directly to its web interface to make changes?
Maybe over mesh backhaul?

Yes. Follow the below steps
FGT310B#config wireless-controller wtp FGT (wtp) # edit FP11111111111 FGT (FP11111111111) # set login-passwd-change yes FGT (FP11111111111) # set login-passwd abcdef FGT (FP11111111111) # end FGT# exe telnet A.B.C.D Trying A.B.C.D... Connected to A.B.C.D FP11111111111 login: admin Password: "use abcdef as configured" This should let you login into the FAP.
