If I change the Configuration save mode to manual, is it applicable to CLI? or just GUI?

I was under the impression that manual mode enables me to stage the config without affecting the running config. But as per this document, it means the changes take effect immediately but they are not written to flash. This is not ideal in case when I want to stage the config changes before maintainanace window. Am I wrong in undrstanding this?
Ah i see yea the behaviour you want is not available on the FGT—at least I am fairly certain.
You can use FortiManager to accomplish what you want...
Select Forum Responses to become Knowledge Articles!
Select the “Nominate to Knowledge Base” button to recommend a forum post to become a knowledge article.
