Captive Portal

Hi

 

I have issue when i already authenticated myself in Captive Portal but I cant connect to the internet. on the browser says error Your connection is not Private; NET: ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID. 

 

but if i disable the captive portal, i can open the internet with no problem.  

 

Could you please advise?

It seems like the issue you are facing is related to the SSL certificate configuration in the captive portal setup. To resolve the "err_cert_common_name_invalid" error after successful authentication in the captive portal, you need to ensure that the SSL certificate common name matches the hostname used to access the captive portal. Here are the steps to address this issue:

 

1. Access the FortiGate CLI.

2. Configure the captive portal to use a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) for the Captive Portal address instead of the FortiGate IP address. This can be done using the following commands: ``` config firewall auth-portal set portal-addr "your_FQDN_here" end ```

3. After making this change, the SSL certificate common name should match the FQDN you specified in the captive portal configuration. This alignment will prevent the "err_cert_common_name_invalid" error when accessing the internet after authentication. By following these steps and ensuring the SSL certificate common name matches the FQDN used in the captive portal configuration, you should be able to connect to the internet without encountering SSL certificate errors after successful authentication.
