Cannot access to VPN anymore.
Hi,
I used FortiClient to access to VPN for some weeks but then suddenly something changed. I'm not able to access the VPN anymore. I don't even find the server that I saved and used to access to. In the application window I don't see where to insert all the server information anymore. It also says "FortiClient disconnected". Why's that?
Thank you very much.

Hello MFseingim,
Could you please confirm the EMS version and forticlient version ?
May I know if there were any recent changes?
Regards
Nagaraju.

Where can I read those informations?
Also, I think the problem is that I have downloaded the full client version that goes in trial mode for a certain period and after that it isn't possible to use it anymore. Is this the case? If yes, how could I eventually buy a license?

Hello,
If you currently do not have a EMS (https://www.fortinet.com/content/dam/fortinet/assets/data-sheets/og-forticlient.pdf), you should install 'FortiClient VPN only' on https://www.fortinet.com/support/product-downloads.
The free version does not require any license and can be used for VPN function only.
You can consider buying a license if you need the full EMS and FCT features:

Contact our Sales Team or your local reseller/partner.
Bon

To check the forticlient version on the left-hand side of forticlient application you see the option "About". Click on About to see the forticlient version.
If you are using a trial license then it is valid only for some time.
If you want to buy a full license then you need to contact your re-seller or local partner.
Regards
Nagaraju.

Check your internet connection. If that's fine, restart FortiClient and make sure your server information is correct. Check if your firewall or antivirus might be causing problems. Update FortiClient if needed, and see if you accidentally changed any settings. If you're stuck, contact your IT support for help. If all else fails, consider uninstalling and reinstalling FortiClient, but be sure to save your settings first. Hope it may help!

Ensure your internet connection is working properly. If it is, restart FortiClient and verify that your server information is accurate. Check if your firewall or antivirus is causing any issues. Update FortiClient to the latest version, and double-check that no settings were accidentally changed. If the problem persists, reach out to your IT support team for assistance. As a last resort, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling FortiClient, but make sure to back up your settings beforehand. Hope this helps!

It sounds like you’re experiencing changes related to FortiClient’s management mode. When FortiClient is managed by FortiEMS (Fortinet’s Endpoint Management Server), the VPN settings—including the server details—are centrally controlled by your administrator rather than being manually entered on the client. Here are a few points to consider:
Managed Mode Changes:
In managed mode, FortiEMS pushes the VPN configuration to your FortiClient. This means that any previously saved manual settings (like your VPN server) are overridden by the centrally managed profile. If the FortiEMS policy has been updated or if the VPN profile has been removed or altered on the server side, you will no longer see the server information or the option to manually input it.
FortiClient Disconnected” Message:
This message might appear because the client isn’t receiving a valid connection profile from FortiEMS. The disconnect status could be due to a configuration change on the FortiEMS side, a communication issue between FortiClient and FortiEMS, or simply because the VPN profile has been disabled or modified.
In summary, the absence of the manual server entry field and the disconnected status are most likely due to the VPN configuration now being controlled by FortiEMS rather than by manual user input. Reaching out to your IT support team should clarify any recent changes or issues on the management side.
Let me know if you need any further assistance!
