Can we maintain a vpn connection and switch user logins

We use both FortiClient ipsec and ssl vpn connections in our organization. The question was asked, can we switch user logons (e.g. domain login and a login Win7 client login) while the vpn connection is up and still maintain the connection. We had this option using the Cisco VPN client, but are unaware if the FortiClient support this capability. Anyone know? Share some details. TIA!

How would you notice the difference? What is the benefit of " maintaining the connection" ? Apart from that, if the tunnel is started by the user then it will be torn down when the user logs off. If FC is started before Windows logon...one would have to test that. But again, I cannot see the benefit at the moment. Would you care to enlighten me?
