Campus WiFi Solutions with 50 AP on Forti 300D

Morning Guys,

I would like to share my experience with Forti 300D and hope for some Imputs or Improvments. We have 7 Buildings connected via Fibre to the Firewall. 50 Access Points FAP-320c are managed through a Vlan on the Unit. The Clients get the Ip from the DHCP on the Wireless Interface. We use only Wireless! We don't have any wired LAN Connection. Also we don't have any Server in the Enviroment. Only WLAN to Internet. The Client connection establishment is not bad. It Works good and the Speed is good. Now i will share some "Good" and "Bad"

Good

Signal Quality and strength is good

fast connection establishment

easy plug ang play configuration

good maintenance

After Booting an AP occasional i get an ip conflict...it happens a couple of time!

the automatical channel selection is horrible! i have to check the channels evry day!

The client Load Balancing, Frequency Handoff and AP Handoff is catastrophic! --> this feature was buying decison! but it doesn't work as the channel selection...

Client Ip Conflicts! once a week i have this issue![/ul]

I hope someone can share my experience and give me some advice!

Access the APs via http://<AP-IP>

In the menu where you selected DHCP set different "Default IPs"

hi,

i've done that! but it depends on the dhcp lease time...when i clean up the dhcp leases...i still get the old ip!

then i must shut down one of the ap's, change the ip, then boot up again.
