Was pasting some commands into the CLI and it locked up.
Now it wont connect... anyone know why this happens (is it a bug, a safeguard or is it now corrupt) ?
I want to avoid a reboot if possible

I doubt it corrupt give it some time and re-try again. FWIW, If you have a lot of commands to enter, the batch cmd upload is ideal for this.

Did you use telnet? SSH? console? Can you still access GUI?
if you can login via ssh ( please say you don't have telnet enabled on a firewall ;) ) or WebGUI
than I would drop in to cli & sys console and disable and re-enable the console )
config sys console
set login disable
end
followed by
config sys console
set login enable
end

Just to let you know the CLI lockup went back to normal itself after a few days - thanks for your help
