Hi am now very tired of it of multiple fresh installs in Ubuntu 15.04, 18.04, and 20.04...
(First I was trying with a CLI options only, getting a bogus "license expired message".)
Then with GUI I am not getting anything but the Window pop up and no elements
on it; it's just blank.
This is with the latest 7.0.7 FortiClient forticlient_7.0.7.0246_amd64.deb from either the official repo using this procedure:
https://www.fortinet.com/support/product-downloads/linux
or downloading a VPN only deb file forticlient_vpn_7.0.7.0246_amd64.deb manually from
https://www.fortinet.com/support/product-downloads#vpn (https://links.fortinet.com/forticlient/deb/vpnagent)
Gets stuck in this:
Starting FortiTray 1
23:25:41.945 › Starting FortiTray
Platform detected: ubuntu 1
23:25:41.949 › Platform detected: ubuntu
[ '/opt/forticlient/gui/FortiClient-linux-x64/FortiClient' ] 1
23:25:41.951 › [ '/opt/forticlient/gui/FortiClient-linux-x64/FortiClient' ]
Saml - init 1
23:25:41.975 › Saml - init
did-finish-load 1
23:25:42.409 › did-finish-load
ready-to-show 1
23:25:42.411 › ready-to-show
and it only shows the blank window and hangs in there.
Both result in the same behavior. What am I doing wrong?

Hello Serguei,
I found this old discussion:

Does it help?
Regards,
Hello Anthony
Is it suggested to use openfortivpn cli, but in my case it's not applicable as I need to use OTP and openforti does not support SASL.
I have the same problem with blank scree in FortiClient app on linux.
Is it possible to fix it?
Hello everyone, I found the solution to this problem, you need to have
/opt/forticlient/fctsched
Running in the background. If you have systemd, check that forticlient service is up and running:
# systemctl status forticlient.service
Also check that directory exists:
/var/lib/forticlient
Hi, I have Ubuntu 22.04.3 and I am having the same issue even when the service is up and running. I checked that the directory /var/lib/forticlient exists.
