Pinging still possible ok.
VPN Over the fortigate still ok.
But when trying to approach the web interface over usual ip, the fortigate 100D does not respond anymore, resulting in site can't be reached.
Any idea to why?
and how to resolve?
Help would be greatly appreciated.

Possible flash corruption - if you can SSH into the fgt, perform some/all of the following commands:
diag debug crashlog read get system startup-error-log
If nothing unusual comes up, perform show system interface and see that allowaccess settings are still correct for the internal you are trying to connect to the fgt.
If you have direct console access, direct connect to the console port and reboot the fgt, see if any error messages show up.
