Hello,
I need to upgrade the fortimanager from version 6.4.5 to version 7.2.7.
The global database adom is in version 6.4.
Will I also need to update the adom global database ?
How do I know if this is necessary?
Thanks

7.2.7 admin guide says below:
"The global database ADOM supports its own version plus one version."
https://docs.fortinet.com/document/fortimanager/7.2.7/administration-guide/238730
It also says:
"The global database ADOM should only be upgraded after all the ADOMs that are using a global policy package have been upgraded."
FMG is very complicated/complex product. I would say much more than FGTs. It's always recommended to read the admin guide of your version like I keep referring to.

Hello,
I just open the link
I don't understand the difference between the two phrases " The global database is reset when the database version is edited.
The database is not reset when the global database ADOM is upgraded using the Upgrade command."
In the two cases, I don't understand the difference because when WE do an upgrade, the database version is edited.

I don't understand the sentences either. We don't use global ADOM. But it seems to be saying the global ADOM version should be upgraded to be the same when all other ADOM versions are upgraded, becaue it supports only version n and n+1. In your case, if all others ADOMs are 7.0, you should upgrade the global ADOM to 7.0. The same goes with when you upgrade those to 7.2.
I'm hoping somebody from FTNT would answer for the meaning of that particular paragraph. If not, you might need to open a ticket at TAC to clarify.

Hello @Alan7622 and @Toshi_Esumi
1- The database is not reset when the global database ADOM is upgraded using the Upgrade command
(attachment 1)
2- The global database is reset when the database version is edited.
(attachment 2)
in screenshot 2 , if the Global DB was 7.2 for example, it will show you both versions 7.2 and 7.4 and you can click on 7.4, that will update the Global Adom version but may reset it also
So always use the more-> upgrade to upgrade an adom
