Action = Dropped what does it mean ?

Hello, I would like to know what the action "dropped" means. I made a report in the fortianalyzer about IPS and it shows me the action "dropped" but I don't know what it means. "dropped" means lock?  "dropped" is eliminating the danger?

Yes, your suggestion is right. The IPS dropped the session after recognizing a threat.

Dropped means the identified session was discarded silently. It blocked the threat without giving the source (potentially an attacker) any response
