60C WAN1 PPoE to RJ11 phone line?

Hi guys, I have a 60C and want to configure it with my ADSL internet connection, but the lines comes via an RJ11 phone line connection and the WAN1 interface on the 60C is an RJ45 one. Can I plug in the 4-wire phone jack to the 8-wire ethernet port or I need a converter (if there' s such thing) or it just wouldn' t work at all. Thank you. Steve

Welcome to the forums. It won' t work. The RJ-11 is a telephone protocol, not Ethernet based. I wouldn' t even plug it in. Phone lines are upwards of 50 VDC. You may blow the Ethernet port on the FGT. You need a DSL modem to act as a bridge between the 2. This should be supplied by your ISP or carrier.

We normally get a Netgear DG384 to use as the modem. Just change the mode on the netgear to Modem mode and connect it to Wan1. You can get a Netgear ADSL modem but our supplier doesnt stock them anymore.

I often use a D-Link DSL-321B which is suitable for the regional DSL standards. It comes preconfigured in ' bridge mode' meaning no routing is on, just modem. I put all the credentials into the WAN1 PPPoE config and it works everytime.
