60C Link Aggregation
Hi guys,
I' ve been googling and searching here, but haven' t found an answer.
Does the 60C support link aggregation?
The data sheet here: http://www.fortinet.com/sites/default/files/productdatasheets/FortiGate-60C.pdf
Says " Multi-Link Aggregation (802.3ad)"
However, I' ve seen some internet search mentions of the 60C not supporting link aggregation.
Anyone know the truth?

Ahh well obviously I need to read the fine print more carefully in that data sheet.
It does say " Note: The list above is comprehensive and may contain FortiOS features which are not available on all FortiGate appliances. Consult FortiGate system documentation to determine feature availability."
However, I still can' t quite find an answer... anyone know if the 60C does indeed not support link aggregation?
If not, I' ll have to think of another plan for how to do our switch redundancy.
Cheers,
Andrew

Will you will know if you have aggregation support in a 60c if you execute the following and find out type aggregate is not available
confg sys interface
edit lacpbond0
set type aggregate
if the option is not available, than that model does not support lacp.

Hi emnoc,
Thanks for the reply -- Actually the context is that we' re shopping around and considering a pair of 60Cs for purchase, but I wanted to know first if it supports aggregation... so unfortunately I can' t test it myself.

I think the first model that supports it is the 200b but i haven' t yet had a chance to check out the new 100D

Hmm, I' m getting that impression as well.
Our devices will arrive soon, so we' ll get to check it out in person.
That said, if you don' t have link aggregation available, how do people usually do redundancy with a pair of devices and 2 trunked switches?
e.g. just for our basic HA setup we have a redundant pair of Procurves, with each of our servers plugged to both switches, with link aggregation/bonding turned on on the servers.
Ideally we were hoping to plug each of the 60Cs to each switch and use aggregation
Cheers,
Andrew

The 200B is the first model to support Link Aggregation.
100D does not.

Ah that sucks.
Thanks for the answer, though.
Cost and capacity-wise, the 200Bs would be mega overkill for our project... but we do need high availability across our 2 switches...
Kinda surprised that' s not included, seems like such a basic networking feature that any decent unix networking stack provides.

Agree,
What is it you want, aggregation or reduandancy ?

Definitely redundancy... in our case we' re nowhere near using the link capacity, so actual aggregation for load balancing isn' t that critical... but HA is very important so we want to plug our 60Cs into our matched pair of HP switches
