Got my answer:
* this is acknowledged as a bug in v5.6.1 and v5.6.2
* it has been fixed in v5.6.3
* it is NOT mentioned in the Release Notes for v5.6.2
* there is a CLI workaround as follows:
diag sys waninfo
When I ran that CLI command first time, it threw an error, however a few seconds later the GUI updated correctly.
When I ran that CLI command a second time, it ran okay.
Hi, can you explain what you mean with "clicking on wan interface"? Where and how?
Hi,
This works for me everytime i had this problem or when i try to reboot . I go to Network>interface>wan1>try to edit wan address but i still use same ip address ( its kidda like refresshing the IP) . then apply, next I go back to CLI and typr Diag sys waninfo . it woks for me everytime , hope this will help
I had the same issue, have you resolve it?
Unfortunately I have not. I have a WAN IP via DHCP (ISP) and do not dare to change anything to that to keep this IP as long as possible...
Is this issue still open? Could someone resolve it?
I am using firmware 6.0.2 and diag sys waninfo always returns this:
Failed to get my public IP, ret=0 src_ip=0.0.0.0 vfid=-1(null) Command fail. Return code
The IP for wan interface is obtained via DHCP.
Can't help with v6 firmware, but I can confirm that the problem is fixed in v5.6.6 firmware. When first restarted, the icon spins for a while, but eventually it resolves to an IP address correctly.
This is how i fixed it.
diagnose sys waninfo ipify
Just upgraded to 5.6.9 and got the Wan IP "Unknown" in the dashboard
had to run the
diag sys waninfo
but twice as the first time as mentioned earlier in the thread, it errors, second time worked like a charm my Manager now happy he can see the WAN IP on his Dashboard ;)
Thanks for the thread guys
