2 Fortigate 300C devices and traffic after breaking cluster

Hiya,

we have 2 Fortigate 300C devices configured in an active/passive cluster. The firmware version is FG300C-5.02-FW-build754-170421.

so that we can use the passive device for something else, we are planning on breaking the cluster.

Will the active device still serve traffic as normal or will it take the network down.

what is the best way to approach this?

Mike

simply

- pull all cables from slave unit

- master will continue to operate as usual (but send an alert)

- reconfigure slave unit and use it elsewhere

- during low traffic time: reconfigure master, HA mode to 'standalone' --> this will force a reboot!!

Or leave it as-is, if you later decide to reunite a A-P cluster the master is already ready to go. It will not hurt anything.

In our case all HA a-p setup have all feeding-in/out through switches, so we would shut them down on the switch side then re-route all those in/out ports to re-purpose the slave device. We do all of these mostly remotely.
