1048E speed nonegotiate

I've noticed that the 1048E doesnt support any speed or autonegotiate commands for port speeds.

I had been troubleshooting an issue with a link between a Cisco 9300 and a  fortiswitch 1048e, using 1000base-LX,  and found that I had to disable autonegotiate on the cisco for the link to come up (speed nonegotiate).

I haven't been able to find in fortinets documentation that autoneogotiate must be disabled when connecting to 3rd party switch hardware. Is this intentional or a bug?

Where are you trying to set  those port speeds? You can definitely set them as per https://docs.fortinet.com/document/fortiswitch/7.2.8/administration-guide/861234/setting-port-speed-...

You shouldn't need to disable autonegotiate, at least if using regular RJ45 ports. Some transceivers may have issues if you have this enabled.

Hi John,

This is specifically for the 1048E, which only has SFP interfaces. The set speed command does not exist for those ports.

I get that you don't really need autonegotiate for SFP ports as it is generally bound to the transceiver, but is something other vendors support for compatibility.

Well this must be a bug, we just rebooted the switch and now the command is available. Unsure why it wasn't available at first, I'll have to investigate further.
