10/100/1000 support by GE-SFP ports

Hello,

Does a GE-SFP port of a FortiGate, equipped with FS-TRAN-GC (RJ-45) transceiver, support 10/100/1000 speed?

Thanks

Andreas

Don't know about 10 but 100/1000  should be doable. Did you read  any of  the  ftnt spec doc?

I'm aware of this document. It doesn't say anything about 10/100/1000 (or 100/1000). The reason I worry about, is this document: http://kb.fortinet.com/kb/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=FD34526&sliceId=1...

In there, it is mentioned only the 3040/3140B's and a special 3rd party SFP (Delta LCP-1250RJ3SR-S). From this, I'm in doubt if this feature is supported in other FortiGates or not.

According to the document, the copper only supports 1000, no other. This is the usual for copper GBICs. I have used several on other manufacturer's gear and all have been locked at 1000.

Then  that  document tells you want you need. What I found out from trial and error.

1: most models with   SFP ports don't allow setting  speeds at 10 or 100 / half or full

2: you might get away with  the SFP side set at  "auto" and the far end  at 100/full,  but that's not even 100% reliable or correct

3: Cisco SFP-GE-T  do work in the FGT100 series 5.2x,  but will not negotiate to 100/full imho

Contact  fortinet support but I bet 10mbps is going to be out of the question on a SFP enabled FGT model or try the  cisco like  transceivers from fs.com  they make  fortinet transceivers and they have all worked in my  settings. I just don't think you can run it at 10mbps thu.

YMMV
