Unable to restore firmware in BIOS

Hello,

 

I have a fortigate Model 60. It doesnt boot anymore only BIOS is accessible from Console Cable. I tried to Format it but it seem to hang there and its not formatting. I still tried to upload new firmware with the TFTP config. I got it to work it did download the firmware but I get the following error trying to install it

Is the unit dead nothing really happen to it, it was working fine and one day it wasnt pingeable and I found it that way.

Hi,

this definitely looks like the storage hardware is broken. The small FGTs use CF cards IIRC which wear out after a couple of years. Only newer models (E and F series) have internal SSDs.

 

I guess the 60D is quite old. If you've got a valid FortiCare contract, open a TAC case and ask for a hw replacement. If not, I'd open the FGT and check if the CF card is plugged or soldered. If plugged, replace it. If soldered, hm, depends on your skills.
