Difference between SNAT and DNAT

Dear folks,

Could you please check once Is this definition is correct as per my knowledge -

The difference between SNAT and DNAT is that, SNAT is used to allow the internal host to connect with the internet and DNAT is used by an external host to initiate connection with a private network.

Thank you in advance for checking all the definitions.

Dear Umesh,

The use cases are self explanatory where SNAT translates the source and DNAT translates the destination as needed.

Hey Umesh,

that looks like an okay explanation of what SNAT and DNAT are.

There are other use cases in addition to what you have noted (you might want to NAT traffic through a site-to-site VPN, for example, if both sides use the same local subnet for some reason) but that's just a minor addition ^^.
