Solution

The 'Request aborted. Please check your network connection' error can occur due to various reasons, including:

  1. Network connectivity issues.
  2. Insufficient free storage space.
  3. Browser-related problems.
  4. Issues with the FortiWeb.

 

Troubleshooting Steps are as follows:

  1.  Verify Network Connectivity: Ensure that the FortiWeb has a working network connection. Check cables, switches, and routers. Test network connectivity from the FortiWeb by attempting to ping a reachable IP address or domain. If the ping fails, address any network issues accordingly.
  2. Check Available Storage Space: In GUI, Navigate to System -> System Information and check the available disk space. Ensure there is sufficient free storage space to accommodate the upgrade.
  3. Clear Browser Cache and Cookies:  If GUI is used to access the FortiWeb interface, clear the browser's cache and cookies. Close and reopen the browser, then attempt the upgrade again.
  4. Use a Different Browser: Try upgrading FortiWeb using a different web browser. Sometimes, browser-related issues can interfere with the upgrade process.
  5. Perform a Firmware Update:  Ensure to use the latest compatible firmware version for the FortiWeb. Visit the Fortinet support portal to download the latest firmware if needed. If not, update it following the FortiWeb firmware update procedure.
  6. Disable Proxy or Firewall Rules: If the network uses a proxy or firewall, temporarily disable them for the duration of the upgrade process. Some proxy or firewall rules may block the necessary communication for the upgrade.
  7. Try an Alternate Method for Upgrading: If the web-based upgrade is failing, consider using an alternative method, such as upgrading via CLI or a TFTP server. Refer to the FortiWeb documentation for instructions on these methods.
  8. Execute the following command to rebuild the database on FortiWeb: execute db rebuild.
