Description

This article describes how to synchronize WAD data to both cluster members.

When FortiWeb is deployed in Active-Passive HA, the primary will sync the WAD config to the HA secondary nodes. However, it will not sync the backup files. In this case, when a failover happens and the option 'Restore Changed File Automatically' is enabled, the new primary will not have the latest backup files as the previous primary node which will cause various issues on the backend webserver such as file deletion.

Scope FortiWeb.
Solution

In the current implementation of WAD in A-P, the website data is not synchronized to the secondary member. This may cause issues while using the 'restore changed file automatically' option. In order to synchronize website data to both cluster members, follow these steps:

  1. Before updating a website that is monitored by WAD, disable the 'Restore Changed Files Automatically' option.
  2. Update the files on the website server.
  3. After the WAD file backup process is complete on the FortiWeb primary node, perform an HA failover to another node.
  4. Once all nodes have completed the latest backup files, re-enable the 'Restore Changed Files Automatically' option.
  5. WAD keeps the current files and will restore any changes on the monitored website.
