Description This article describes how to manually upgrade FortiFone-x80 firmware using a TFTP server.
Scope FortiFone-x80.
Solution
  1. Download a working x80 FortiFone firmware from the FortiCloud.
  2. Install the TFTP tool with TFTP32.
  3. Rename the firmware file to image.out. Upload the file to the TFTP server root directory.


Example:
If the image is FON_280B-v30-build0373-FORTINET.out, rename it to image.out and place it in the TFTP root directory.

  1. Reboot the phone.
  2. When the Fortinet logo appears, press '9' twice quickly. This should bring up the U-Boot blue recovery screen.

  1. Select option '1' to 'Get firmware image from TFTP server.'.
Enter the necessary TFTP server IP and local IP, and download the image.out firmware. (TFTP and local IP should be in the same subnet).

Note:

The IP addresses shown in the photo are for demonstration purposes only. Any private IP addresses may be used.

 

  1. The firmware update will now begin. Once the update is complete, the phone will automatically reboot, and the new firmware will be installed.
