Technical Tip: Lost seed file for FortiToken Hardware with CD

Description	This article describes what happens if the seed file of FortiToken is with a CD.
Scope	FortiToken with CD.
Solution	FortiToken Hardware with CD, for example, FortiToken-200-CD is a hardware Token that comes with a CD. The CD contains all the seed files with the token. For example, in a 10 tokens bundle purchase, the 10 hardware tokens will be received with a single CD where all the token’s seed files are stored. FortiToken-200-CD will have a serial number starting with the FortiToken-211 prefix. If the CD is lost and there is no backup of the seed file, there is no way to recover the seed file as this model of hardware token only stores the seed file on the CD and not on the Fortinet server. Hence, is important to keep a copy of the seed file or store the CD in a safe place. For users that need a seed file in a specific format (i.e., for import into FortiGate or FortiAuthenticator, or 3rd third-party MFA server like EntraID), users purchase the FortiToken-210 tokens and can contact Fortinet customer service to request the file.
