Description

This article discusses Network issues when using the L3 feature on the FortiSwitch 1XXX series.

Scope

FortiSwitch 1XXE and 1XXF series.

Solution

The Fortiswitch Series 1XXE and 1XXF do not support hardware-based routing, so low throughput, performance, and packet loss should be expected when the routing feature is used for production traffic:

Page 7 Hardware routing is not supported, it is expected behavior. 

This feature should be used for management traffic only.

Consider the FortiSwitch series 2XX and up if to have more wire speed and line rate L3 processing for the network. Be aware some advanced L3 features only are available on Advanced Features License.
