Scope FortiSwitch without RJ-45 jack for console port.
Solution

Some Fortinet equipment might not have an RJ-45 jack connector for a console port, instead, the device has a Micro-B USB port and an adapter.

The FortiSwitch-548D will be used as an example:

To connect to the FortiSwitch using a console cable, a USB micro-B to RJ-45 port adapter like this one will be necessary:

Step 1: Connect the device’s console port to the management computer using the provided USB micro-B to RJ-45 port and console cable.

Step 2: Start a terminal emulation program on the management computer, select the COM port and use the following settings:

Baud Rate: 115200.
Data bits: 8.
Parity: None.
Stop bits: 1.
Flow Control: None.

Step 3: Press Enter on the keyboard to connect to the CLI.

Step 4: Login using username 'admin', no password and proceed with configuring the device.
