Technical Note: Use of 40G Split Ports on FortiSwitch

Description

From version 3.5.0 it is possible to split 40G ports into four 10G ports on following devices:

• FS-3032D (Port5 to port28 can be split)
• FS-524D, FS-524D-FPOE (Port29 and port30 can be split)
• FS-548D, FS-548D-FPOE (Port53 and port54 can be split)

Scope

Related FortiSwitch devices from 3.5.0 release.

Solution

The following command lines must be executed in order to split the 40G port:

config switch phy-mode
set port-configuration <default | disable-port54 | disable-port41-48>
set -phy-mode <1x40G | 4x10G>
...
(one entry for each port that supports split port)
end
