Description

This article describes how to solve an 'MS Office key is not valid' error during the FortiSandbox VM activation.

Scope

FortiSandbox.

Solution

When the Microsoft Office 2021 key is imported, the error 'Invalid Key' shows up, and the VM cannot be activated.

From CLI:

vm-license -l

KEY_2021 1:XXXXX-169-556-128XXXXX (Invalid Key)

This error shows up in v4.4.7 and older. The reason is that Microsoft changed the Office 2021 Key Format.

Solution:

Upgrade the FortiSandbox to v5.0.1 build 0080 and newer.
