The FortiSOAR VM Configuration has failed.
Contact Administrator for assistance.

fsr-lab02#

Scope

FortiSOAR v7.x.

Solution

Step 1: Check the current state of the VM configuration in the FortiSOAR instance.

# ls -la /home/csadmin | grep -i "vm_config"
-rw-r-----. 1 root root 0 Jan 3 2022 .vm_configuration_failed

Step 2: Reconfigure the 'vm_configs' on the FortiSOAR instance. The following seventeen tasks will be carried out as part of this reconfiguration:

  1. Change hostname and refresh MQ nodename [Optional].
  2. Get DNS.
  3. Update network configuration [Optional].
  4. Set up intra-services authentication (enable messaging environment).
  5. Generate Certificates.
  6. Generate Device UUID.
  7. Reset database passwords.
  8. Restart FortiSOAR Services.
  9. Configure default single-node HA cluster.
  10. Configure proxy.
  11. Install Python Libraries.
  12. Sync with marketplace metadata.
  13. Install default widgets.
  14. Search Index initialization.
  15. Refresh SSH Keys.
  16. Generate default encryption keys.
  17. Refresh data identifiers.

Note:

Schedule an appropriate downtime, as this process involves restarting FortiSOAR services.

Step 3: Execute this command from the FortiSOAR CLI:

# sudo bash /opt/cyops/scripts/config-vm.sh

Step 4: Enter the necessary information whenever prompted in the configuration wizard. This process typically takes about 15-20 minutes. Once completed, log in to the FortiSOAR CLI from a new session, and the error message will no longer appear.
