Description

This article describes that it is not required to update the UUID in the support portal when the same license entitlement is to be re-used in other FortiSOAR instances.

Scope

FortiSOAR v7.0 and above.

Solution

The requirement to update the UUID for the license entitlement before it can be downloaded and then re-uploaded into other FortiSOAR instances is removed after version 7.0 and above.

The rule of thumb for using the same license entitlement in another instance is that the same license entitlement file cannot run concurrently in multiple instances. The use case when re-use of the same license entitlement is required often fall under a critical recovery due to system failure or crashes, new re-deployment due to configuration issue, or migration from one hypervisor to another hypervisor.

The following condition is met before re-upload the license file in other instances:

  • The original instance should be shut down.
  • If there is a need to run the original instance concurrently for a short time, the DNS can be set to a non-existence or dummy DNS server in order to simulate an un-resolvable connection to our FortiGuard Distribution Network (FDN) to stop verifying the contract information against the second instance that re-use the same license entitlement.
