Description This article describes how to configure Gmail as the email server in FortiSIEM using basic authentication for sending email notifications.
Scope FortiSIEM.
Solution

Go to under ADMIN -> Settings -> System -> Email and enter the settings as follows, changing the Server Account ID according to the proper Gmail account:

 

  • Email Gateway Server: smtp.gmail.com
  • Server Port: 587
  • Secure Connection (TLS): Enabled
  • Server Account ID: username@gmail.com
  • Default Email Sender: username@gmail.com
  • Authentication: Basic
  • Account Password: Configure the Gmail account to authenticate using an App Password, which is a 16-digit passcode and should be used as the Account Password. Refer to the official documentation below for more information: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833?hl=en 

 

Save and Test:

It is now possible to send incident notifications and scheduled reports via email.
