Description This article describes how to update the license file for a FortiSIEM already registered in FortiCare in cases where the hardware ID has been modified by a redeploy or snapshot restore.
Scope FortiSIEM Virtual Machine.
Solution

If a FortiSiEM redeployment or restore was performed and the hardware ID changed, it is necessary to update the new Hardware ID in the FortiCare portal and obtain the license file again because it is tied to the license to identify the FortiSIEM Supervisor node.

  1. Obtain the Hardware ID from the license upload page: https://<ip_of_supervisor>/phoenix/licenseUpload.jsf in the latest versions.

    https:// <ip_of_supervisor>/phoenix/licenseUpload.jsf

Alternatively, run the following commands via SSH to get a Hardware ID:

cat /sys/class/dmi/id/product_uuid

phgetUUID

  1. Go to https://support.fortinet.com.
  2. Select Services -> Asset Management -> Products and select the Serial Number of the FortiSIEM.
  3. Under Edit Product Information, select the pencil to edit, replace the new Hardware ID of the Supervisor VM, and save.
  4. Go to the License & Key section and download the license file. Upload a new license file on the FortiSIEM GUI.
  5. If the error below comes up, make sure to save the proper Hardware ID upon checking the output of the commands given above.
