Technical Tip: Google Drive Desktop failed to sync files when connected to FortiSASE Secure Internet Access

Description

This article describes how to allow Google Drive Desktop to sync files when connected to FortiSASE Secure Internet Access (Agent-based).

Scope

FortiSASE.

Solution

A common example of the configuration for SIA users on FortiSASE.

SSL Inspection:

Configuration -> Security -> Select Profile Group -> Configure SSL.

 

Policy:

Configuration -> Policies -> Create / Edit.

Perform the following steps below to allow Google Drive Desktop to sync the file:

1. Configuration -> Security -> Select Profile Group -> Configure SSL -> Exemptions  -> Hosts -> + -> + -> Create -> IPv4 Host.

 

2. Enter the field below and select OK.

   Name: wildcard.google.com.

   Type: FQDN.

   FQDN: *.googleapis.com.

   

3. Configuration -> Security -> Select Profile Group -> Configure SSL -> Exemptions -> Hosts -> + -> Select wildcard.googleapis.com and wildcard.google.com -> Click OK.

   

    

4. Restart Google Drive. Select Quit.
                                       

   

5. Re-open Google Drive and file.
