Description This article explains how to enforce license validation through FortiPortal for newly allocated resources using a FortiFlex license.
Scope FortiPortal.
Solution

When adding FortiPortal licenses via FortiFlex, the correct numbers may not immediately appear in FortiPortal, showing fewer FortiFlex licenses than the actual licensed FortiGates.

This occurs because the FortiGuard FDS server typically takes a few hours to validate licenses. In some cases, immediate validation may be required.

Starting from FortiPortal v7.4.2, a new CLI command has been introduced to enforce validation with the FortiGuard server, eliminating the need to wait for automatic license renewal.

This command allows for the instant activation of a Flex-VM license, even if data synchronization is still in progress:

execute vm-license -f <Token>

The token can be found in the support portal under: Services -> FortiFlex -> Flex Entitlements -> My Assets.

Each FortiGate resource has an associated token that can be used with the command above.
