Description This article describes how to resolve the FortiPAM GNOME RDP issue. The issue occurs when attempting to access a GNOME RDP server through FortiPAM, resulting in a failed connection.
Scope FortiPAM.
Solution

GNOME RDP is supported by FortiPAM.

To troubleshoot the FortiPAM GNOME RDP issue, follow these steps:

  1. Verify that the GNOME RDP server is configured correctly and accessible directly using a standard Remote Desktop application.
  2. Check the Firewall configuration (if any) to ensure that it is not blocking the RDP traffic between FortiPAM and the GNOME RDP server.
  3. Verify that the FortiPAM settings are configured correctly, including the RDP security level settings shown below:

  1. Perform a packet capture on FortiPAM, the Firewall, and the GNOME RDP server to identify any issues with the RDP connection.

  2. If the issue persists, try setting the RDP security level to 'RDP' on the FortiPAM and the GNOME RDP server. This will isolate the issue on the TLS version, as the RDP negotiation method does not involve TLS. 'RDP' security level only supports web mode.
  3. If further troubleshooting is needed, capture debug commands below when reproducing the issue and share with TAC support:

diagnose debug reset
diagnose wad debug clear
diagnose debug console timestamp enable
diagnose wad debug enable cate rdp
diagnose wad debug enable cate ssl
diagnose wad debug enable level info
diagnose debug enable
